What is Smart Guardian?
Smart Guardian is FreeEdu's parental oversight system — built for parents who want real visibility into their child's learning without hovering over their shoulder. It runs quietly alongside the FreeEdu app, giving you weekly summaries, screen-time controls, and instant safety alerts from one dashboard.
What You Can See
Setting Up Smart Guardian
Step 1: Link Your Child's Account
From your Parent Dashboard, tap "Add Child" and either scan your child's in-app QR code or enter their Member ID. Your child will see a confirmation prompt on their device — nothing links silently.
Step 2: Grant Consent
FreeEdu asks for explicit consent before any monitoring feature activates, in line with India's DPDP Act and international COPPA standards for children's data. You can review exactly what's tracked before agreeing.
Step 3: Set Your Preferences
Choose your screen-time limits, decide which alert types you want pushed immediately versus saved for the weekly summary, and set quiet hours if you don't want notifications overnight.
Reading the Weekly Report
Every Sunday, Smart Guardian sends a summary covering: total study time, top and weakest subjects, quiz performance trend, and any flagged content from the week. It's designed to be read in under two minutes — a snapshot, not a spreadsheet.
Privacy & Consent
Smart Guardian only tracks what you've explicitly consented to, and consent can be revoked at any time from your Parent Dashboard. FreeEdu never sells usage data, and screenshots (where enabled) are encrypted and auto-deleted on a rolling schedule.
What's Next
We're adding a "focus mode" toggle parents can enable remotely for exam weeks, plus multi-parent access so both guardians can monitor the same child account independently.
